Kenya at a glance: a primer for Austrian businesses
This is not a country report and it contains no economic data. Where a figure would be needed, we link an official source or we leave it out.
Kenya is in East Africa. The official languages are English and Kiswahili. The capital is Nairobi. Many of the people we work with trained in English, and they speak German at B1 or B2 when they are ready for a workplace in Austria. B1 is the minimum, B2 is preferred.
For a company in Austria, three things matter more than a country profile.
First, the path of the people. We work with licensed Kenyan agencies registered with the National Employment Authority. The authority has its own site: nea.go.ke. Whether a given agency is registered today is checked against the current record, not against a screenshot from last year.
Second, the path of the papers. A qualification from Kenya is not automatically an Austrian apprenticeship certificate. For the Red-White-Red Card, and for the question of recognition, the official pages are migration.gv.at and oesterreich.gv.at. We explain the sequence. We do not decide it.
Third, the network in Vienna. Jacob (Jack) Mugoya lives here, is rooted in Kenya, and is active in the East African diaspora, including TeaNers and Marafiki. He founded Africa Gala Vienna. That is a personal network for introductions and events. It is not a licence, and it is not a view on where money should go.
If you want to hire, start with employers. If you want people and formats, start with the network.
